    Spacious Cottage in the Cairngorms

Spacious 4 bedroom house in the Cairngorms National Park.

It has been decorated and furnished to a high standard and sleeps up to 8 people. It is in a quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Newtonmore, a traditional Highland village. A 10 minute walk in one direction takes you to the centre of the village with its various shops, hotels, and cafes, whilst a 10 minute walk in the other direction takes you into the hills around the village.

We regret no smoking, but we are happy to accept well behaved pets; please note that the garden is not enclosed. Free unlimited broadband available.

BEDROOMS

Bedroom 1 with double bed and separate dressing room with cot. Bedroom 2 with 3 single beds. Bedroom 3 with one bed and bedroom 4 (downstairs) with 2 single beds.

BATHROOMS

Bedroom 1 has a large en suite bathroom with bath and shower. Second bathroom upstairs with shower. Downstairs shower room.

KITCHEN

Electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Utility room with freezer, washing machine and sink.

LOUNGE/DINER

Spacious L-shaped room with TV and dining table seating 8 people.

SITTING ROOM

Separate sitting room with stereo and CD player.

GARDEN

Small garden with patio area and barbeque.

The area featured in the “Monarch of the Glen” series and gained many accolades for its stunning scenery

It is ideal for forest walks, climbing, horse riding, cycling and fishing. A little further afield are numerous castles, gardens and picturesque lochs, whilst for the more active holiday there is canoeing, climbing and sailing at Aviemore, which is just 15 minutes away.

In the winter, there is skiing in both the Cairngorms and the Nevis mountains, which are 30 and 60 minutes away respectively. In Newtonmore itself are the Highland Folk Museum and the Clan MacPherson Museum, both of which are free, whilst the Highland Wildlife Park is just a few milesaway.

The Cairngorms National Park

With its mountains, pine-clad slopes, remote lochs and wide river valleys, the Cairngorms National Park is the largest National Park in Britain. It has much of the ancient Caledonian Forest and the high mountains, tundra, rocky passes, moorland and lochs host a huge variety of wildlife, including the Golden Eagle and Osprey.

The Park has attractions for visitors throughout the year, ranging from attractive towns and villages along the river valleys to walking, watersports, golf, mountain biking, climbing and skiing.

GOLF

Both Newtonmore and Kingussie (3 miles away) have 18 hole golf courses, and there are many other golf courses within an hour’s drive.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The recently built Wolftrax at Laggan is eight miles away and has routes for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

BEACH

The inland beach at Loch Morlich is approximately 30 minutes drive away, with the stunning backdrop of the Caledonian Pine Forest.

WATERSPORTS

There are opportunities for sailing, canoeing, white water rafting and sailing on Loch Morlich, Loch Insh and local rivers.

ADVENTURE PARK

The Landmark Forest Adventure Playground – 25 miles away at Carrbridge – has a wealth of attractions for the whole family, including a water coaster, skydive, tree top trails and minicars.

HIGHLAND WILDLIFE PARK

This Park is 5 miles away, where you can see animals ranging from the polar bear, lynx and amur tiger to the wolf, yak and bison. You can see the animals both in the drive round area and on foot.

Other Attractions

The Highland Folk Museum and Clan Macpherson Museum in Newtonmore are both free, or try the Whisky Trail along the Spey Valley.

How to Find Ceilidh

Ceilidh is about 45 minutes drive south of Inverness along the A9. If you are coming from Inverness, take the A9 South towards Perth. After about 45 miles take the turning towards Kingussie and Newtonmore. Drive through Kingussie and in Newtonmore take the turning on the right into Church Terrace, just after the Highlander Hotel. Then take the first turning on the right and carry straight on into Ridewood Grove, Ceilidh – No.8 – is the first house on the right in the cul-de-sac.

If you are coming from Perth head North on the A9 and take the turning for Newtonmore and Kingussie and follow the directions above.
